Intersex 101: Everything You Ever Wanted To Know About Intersex, But Were Afraid To Ask

Filmed September 25, 2013. I cover some core issues in intersex studies, paying special attention to historical shifts in diagnosis and treatment, highlighting some of the existential difficulties faced by intersex folk, and mapping out some connections between intersex and trans issues. The Q&A that follows the talk is a bit hard to hear, but I think it’s easy to infer the content of the questions that are a little muddled, sound-wise.

This was the inaugural lecture for the 2013-2014 academic year of ETSU’s “Women on Wednesdays” lunch/lecture series, which highlights the research of women on the campus of East Tennessee State. Sponsored by the Women’s Studies Program.
